We have a narrow concrete deck at the back of the house (high-set) that we would like to replace with a larger deck at some point. I think the main reasons why the deck is built out of concrete are: Son of previous owner was a brickie and building it this way makes the deck very thin (100-120mm). The reason it needs to be thin is that otherwise I can't walk underneath it and that's where the doors are to the garage, laundry, etc. If I built a new deck out of wood it would be significantly thicker (?) and give me more bumps on my head than I already have...

What do you think would be the best alternatives for a new deck?
