Panasonic FAX KX-FC379CX, adjust transmission level

I am trying to use the fax machine that I bought from overseas (Panasonic model KX-FC379CX), when I tried to use it, it tells me that the transmission failed, the error report part of the error showed below :

Telecom recommends the fax machine be adjusted for a transmission level of -15.0 to -17.0 dBm as the optimum range. Contact supplier for adjustment.

How can I adjust that , because when i went through the manual I could not find that option!!!!

Something funny going on there, Zillah. We have a KX-FC195 and it's plug it in and go. I'd be calling a Panasonic Help line tomorrow.

There is a set up menu that isn't documented in the user manual. This is rather common as it gives the FAX seller and/or repair people the opportunity to charge for a service call.

The first thing that I would try is to use a different attachment wire between the machine and your local telco service. In the US there are two types of telco (a.k.a. Silver Satin) wires, straight and rolled. Here the normal are rolled which means that riing and tip (Red and Green) are crossed over from end to end. Usually, attachment wires are silver in color when they are rolled and black when they are straight through. (Usually but not always.) Try a straight and then try a rolled.

Also many FAX machines have two connectors. One is intended to go to the telco network and the other is intended to go to a telephone. When the FAX machine is active the phone is isolated from the telco circuit. On MANY FAX machines if the Telco connection is into the telephone connection on the machine, the problem is similar to what you are describing.

Finally you could try to down load the complete instruction manual from the Panasonic web site. (Your machine is under warranty for 30 days or so.)
