Default One Good Day In North Queensland

I bin readin Banjos despatches from the Boer War.

and I come upon this pearl of wisdom

According to Banjo Patterson (who was a cockroach-lander)

    Almost right,
it's a good day in North Qld any day a southerner (including those from south of, say, Townsville) depart for more southerly climes.

Similar to that wise old guru who once said that the best thing to come out of Victoria was the Hume Highway at Wodonga

    Shutup Mick!
Agree with em. Don't give the game away!
Theres to many bloody Mexicans up here already.

There's cyclones, crocodiles, red necks, dengi fever and Pauline Hanson to deal with up here. Terrible place.
Southerners would be well advised to steer clear.

    Sorry Blocklayer,
    what was I thinking!
Banjo was right, and besides the cyclones, crocodiles, red necks, dengi fever and Pauline Hanson, there's killer jellyfish, leptospirosis, stinging trees, wild pigs, tuberculosis and ross river fever just to name a few of the local unpleasantries. Just to be on the safe side, if you really, really need to come to Queensland (and let's face it, who really does?) it's best to stay south of Bundaberg.

Mick I went up back up to Kuranda about 3 years ago after spending a bit of time up there in the late 70's - early 80's. Almost made me cry. What the hell happened to the place.

The funky little village shops had turned into one big souvenir shop and the markets were full of shysters selling goods made in China.

The bottom pub has taken the place of the top pub.

Even my favorite mushroom paddock was gone!

    There is no god.

You were probably crying the first time from a wet nappy.

I was 97 last week. I have a rare congenital age defect. It fluctuates wildly with my mood.

I find that my ever changing appearance tends to frighten people hence the facial covering seen in my avatar.

Steady Mick, I'm in Maryborough - you know - the same place name that those Vic's stole and claim for themselves

We get lots of Mexicans coming to Hervey Bay [about 30Km away] - they usually come with a clean shirt, $100, stay 3 months and change neither

    - ever seen their number plates

"Victoria on the move" - yep, and we know where they are/should be going

"Victoria the place to be" - yet they can't take a hint

Now you're being nasty, Bob.! I've given up on Qld for the winter. They've ruined the coastal strip all the way up as far as I'm concerned with inappropriate and excessive development.
Won't be going north of Ballina in future.
Incidentally, you banana benders like our Mexican dollars!

Seriously your comment re development is all too true

    re the $$$$$$
