Californian Bungalow upper floor extension
Im looking to add on an upper storey to my Cal bungalow and am trying to find a design or picture of how it could look or any ideas from anyone. The bungalow has 3 gables and the builder has put together a design with the upper storey insert having 2 gables (which I think looks silly having 5 gables altogether). I would probably prefer just the one gable on the upper floor to even up with the 3 on ground floor and maybe add 2 box windows (with little gables) to the extension to give it character. Any one have any ideas or examples? Also can I have box windows sticking out the the upper extension that dont connect to the lower roof?
Thanks
Cobber

Take a walk or a drive around the neighbouring suburbs and have a look at what others have done. Snap off a few digital photos (without lookign like you are casing the place!) of the sorts of things that you like and send them to your draftsman. If you can show them what you are after, it should be pretty easy to draw it up.
A cruise around the neighbourhood out my way (Malvern East) would yield tonnes of examples - every second one of them seems to have gone up. That said, I'm sure that there are plenty of bungalows that have had the second storey treatment on your side of town
