Default Mobile phone - Everyday Mobile from Woolworths

Does anyone use Woolworths for your phone service? https://mobile.everyday.com.au/

Well, I do. I've got two numbers. Woolworths have a system where you can 'gift' data from one account to another. In my case, even though there's a 'gift' button on my account login screen, when I tried to send the data to the other account, it failed. Ineligible apparently. Presumably, both accounts would need to be similar for it to work.

The reason I'm doing this is that I'm going to close one of the accounts. I want to try a 'pay as you go' account with Aldi. I don't make many calls, so this might work out for me.

The thing is, if I just close the account the data will be lost (163 GB). I'd rather give it to someone who might welcome it. Hence this note. If you are interested, let me know. Of course, you'll need to have a Woolworths account for it to work.

BTW calls are basically free these days, even some international calls included. You are essentially paying for mobile data, with calls thrown in

    That sounds about the mark.

I don't make many calls; I receive more than I make. I avoid texting as much as possible. I never use the phone for web browsing, and my phone is not particularly good at it anyway. So, basically, the data I pay for is not being used.

The Aldi PAYG plan claims to be $5 for 60 days with fees for calls, text, and data. So, if I keep my usage pattern of not calling anyone and simply receiving calls and security texts from banks and the like my phone fee will be around $2.50 per month. Though, people on Reddit say it is a trap, that there are hidden data apps that gobble data without you being aware of it, and phone upgrades cost you.

    I think it's worth a try.

Just keep your mobile data turned off unless you really need it, and nothing will gobble data with it off.

Mobile data is needed for MMS, eg if someone texts you a photo (1st M = media)

I would honestly consider just getting the $19 a month one and be done with it.

atleast you don't have to sit there worrying that if you HAVE to make a lengthy phone call to someone you're going to chew through any savings pretty quick. as mentioned above you'll 100% want to keep mobile data roaming off. 6c a MB will rack up.

the other question is, if you're barely using your mobile, how do you make phone calls etc? I hope its not through a land line

I've heard of data roaming, but I don't actually know what it is. [Just looked it up. Got it.]

I work from home, and the computer has been set up to make calls via the Internet. I use the work phone for pretty much everything.
