Friday lunch prattle

For context, I'm going to ask Paul about the current state of the shipping container studio, and how it's panned out.

I had fully intended to participate in the session and the bathroom renovations distracted me. When I looked up it was well past midday! So apologies on that count. I had to look back to see when it commenced and had not realised how long it has been: 2014! Wow. Where did years 2015 to 2020 go?

Any how, it got a coat of pale blue paint, which is the same as the house. You have to look fairly closely to see that it it is indeed blue. It needs a second coat of paint, but I have not got around to that and the trims around the window definitely need repainting.

The Eromophila at the Eastern end needs pruning back as it is depositing debris onto the roof. I have not got around to painting the roof either come to think of it.

Rainwater is caught and flows to the two bulky bins, which are there primarily for the pond and when they are full they overflow automatically into the pond.

To illustrate just how obsessive this water catchment is, even the crude firewood shelter catches water. This is for the small pond (one time corner shower base) that is under the pink flowers

Inside, the container is fully utilised. When we first tossed around the idea of a studio from a container I suggested a 40'. This was shouted down as not wanting to be an industrial site. Within a week of moving in the studio was chock a block full and there was sheepish admission that we could have used a 40'!

It is very occasionally used for accommodation as the double bed is located in the end wall "cupboard" in the first pic. The table has to be folded down for this to happen and a general tidy up so it is used as a last resort. having said that, out of our "spare" rooms I think this is easily the most pleasant to be in.

Thanks for the follow-up Paul, even if you were not able to join us on the chat.

Taking a leaf out of Paul's book, I won't be able to join in this week as I'll be doing some whitewater rescue training. Three days swimming in one of Tasmania's mountain rivers. Even with my wetsuit I think it's going to be chilly.

I joined in slightly late to the hookup to hear tales of a seventy year old man who had been doing work on the roof. As I had been up on the roof of a house up the road from us since 0630 hrs, and was the reason I joined in a little late, I thought it is lucky I am not 70 as I did not know you had to stop those sort of antics.



Any how the subject of Yukkas (spelling?) came up along with the fact their timber is pretty close to useless.

These are a couple we have. The first may be something slightly different to a Yukka. Both were given to us as pot plants about ten or twelve years ago.

The lower leaves have been gradually pulled out as they do their best to remove an eye as you walk buy. Just a few more leaves and they will both be able to be considered safe.

The second tree can now be seen from the house rising above our outside laundry.

I also misled you with the weather temperature. I think I estimated it at around 23°C - 25°C. When I checked after the Prattle it was 28°C and about 1600hrs it had reached 29.2°C.

It was good that Rob was there as it meant that somebody had been doing some woodwork.
