Default Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil over Rustins Danish Oil?

Has anyone tried to put OrganOil Hard Burnishing Oil over Rustins Danish Oil? How did it go?

Greg as long as the base coat has fully dried into the timber then there should be no problems, they both work with the same solvents.

Give it about 3 weeks for the base coats to dry .

Thanks Jim, I suspected the solvents were the same but had no idea how long it should be left for the driers to dissipate. Appreciate the help.

Ask Organoil. Their products are a bit peculiar to all other finishes and I could be wrong but there may be a problem with that as I'm pretty sure it needs to be keyed to the timber itself and not to another finish.

In my experience Organoil should only be used exactly as per their instructions. In most instances any deviation from those instructions can cause the product not to work correctly or at lease in the fashion it was designed for.

The Danish is basically watered down poly (plastic) where the Organoil is natural oils and resins. Having said that I have never used the Hard Burnishing Oil so am not familiar with it. This is why I suggest you check with Organoil directly.

Best to get the right info direct from the manufacturer than to have to redo the piece because it didn't work.

    Cheers

I asked Organoil via email (31 Oct) but they did not reply. So I went ahead and tried the burnishing oil over the Danish and it was a total flop. If anyone reads this in the future, don't try this, it was a horrible dried out mess. I sanded the top back and used Rustins Danish Oil which gave a good finish.

For the record, I followed the application instructions to the letter but the two oils are simply incompatible. Now I know!

Here is a link to pics of the completed work (click-the-pic).
