    Default Merbau Fence

    Hi all,

I am about to built a merbau fence beside my house which is 5.7 m long. Any recommendations on which oil and stain to use?

I was thinking of going a oil with a merbau enhancement stain. Are these any good?

You can apply an oil finish, such as teak oil, tung oil or polyurethane finish.

    Good luck

    Hi Tubes82,

I used Cabot's Aquadeck. That was about 2 years ago and it still looks good. I should get another year out of it.

Beware of tannin bleeding from the merbau when it rains. I coated the timber before I put it up but it bled like a stuck pig over the newly rendered lower part of the fence from the holes I drilled for the screws.
I couldn't get if off the render and had to recoat the render part of the fence after about 12 months when the bleeding had stopped.

    Cheers
