Can anyone advise me how I can brace a free small free standing wall in the middle of a large space? I want to add a short length (1.2m) of wall at the end of my kitchen bench.

I have provided a diagram to try to explain better

All the other internal walls in m house have a header (is that the right word??) that connects the wall to another wall for bracing I guess.

Is it possible to build a free standing wall without the header?
how do I brace the wall without a header ?
if I need a header, what would need the smallest height for it that I could get away with
