Hello, Please to Meet You
G'day everyone.
My name is Alex. I have an interest in woodworking, but I can't say I have ever made anything better than a bookshelf. I like Ikea and chess, and would like to get better at making things out of wood. Maybe I can pick up some tips on this forum.

G'day Alex and welcome.
Ikea and chess are odd in combination. As to help there is a great deal to be had here. Being a bit flippant, you call yourself arrogant. Just wait until you ask for advice. You will get lots of really good advice, but as there are many ways of working in wood the fun comes when the arrogant ones argue that their's is the ONLY way.
To be serious, never be afraid to ask for help. There's no such thing as a silly question and the guys on this forum are a great bunch with lots of knowledge they are more than willing to share.

Welcome Alex!
Chess, huh? Well, with your woodworking skills you could make a custom chess board and then get into woodturning (very addictive BTW) and turn the chess pieces
Cheers,
Ed
