Finishing an ironbark bench
I have an ironbark slab that I am fixing to my kitchen wall as a breakfast bench and am needing tips on how best to finish it so that it has a gloss like finish and best shows the woods natural colour.
Thanks for the help.

I suggest that you go down to your local wood turning supply outlet and have a look at crystal clear finish .
speak to the sales people there and they will point you in the right direction.
It is a 2 pack and is used mainly on table tops etc, and It is NOT CHEAP, but it may fit your needs.
I do not think varnish will be suitable, as it will yellow and alter the colour of the timber over 12-18 months.
Solvent based finished have a tendency to yellow over time, look at any Pine furniture that is over 18months old, and you will see what I mean..
