cutting a dooraway in a masonry wall

I want to cut a doorway in a masonry wall. I am yet to pop my head into the ceiling to see if the wall is load bearing (I suspect it may be load bearing due to the heavy tiled roof but the building is old and I think the roof is not trussed). If the wall is load bearing I am happy to pay for a structural engineer to specify the lentil. I am really seeking advice on how to cut the hole in the wall, keep the wall propped up, insert the lentil and put the new door frame in, patch-up the...
