was wondering what finish to put over the hard burnishing oil to stop water marks & the like on the coffee table thats a w.i.p ?
i have never used shelac or any other wax finish so any tips would be appreciated.:)

Our sponsor's "Hard shellac" should do the trick. Available through most online woodworking shops.
I wouldn't put shellac over hard burnishing oil myself.
If you've got a good finish with it - ie. the pores were filled with the slurry from wet sanding - it should be enough on its own. If you want a higher lustre you can buff the surface and/or apply a light coat of wax and buff.
so it go's over the oil finish ok ?

i have wet sanded the oil in pretty well so if that will do im happy to pull up now !!
& will try the hard shelac on another job.:2tsup:
Goodo. You should find the surface pretty durable as is. And if you get marks it's easy to repair them with another light wet sand.

btw There's a test of Danish Oils in the new issue of Australian Wood Review. Organoil's rates well.
