Flexible Connections with Hot Water Services


My question is since flexible connections can be used when connecting hot and cold water bathroom taps.

Why is it they also cannot be used when connecting a hot water service.Inlet and outlet water pipes


Keeping in mind the water pressure and temperature would be the same at both the HWS and Basin connections.
I realise pluming regulation may may not allow them.Hard connections are required.

Why is it they ( flexible connections ) cannot be used?

Mate the main reason is that when installed on a HWS they become a weaker link than the TPR valve that is supplied with the heater. The same goes with nylon olives, and there are still leagues of plumbers who insist on using them. Imagine, if your heater is inside (laundry, garage, under the stairs etc) and your away on holidays for a few weeks, should something happen to the heater ( boils over and the pressure builds up too much etc) the TPR valve then operates and IF installed correctly should drain away happily outside. On the other hand, if you had flexi's hooked up, they may simply blow out, the TPR valve none the wiser and you would have mains pressure water flooding your house till such time that you arrived home. Then insurance issues as it wasnt installed correctly, and on it goes. To put it simply, it is a safety issue.
