Default Vulcan Quasar Gas Burner won't light

The pilot light is going but when I turn the thermostat control knob up I can hear a click but burner won't light. I have followed the steps to reset the safety by turning thermostat to zero and pressing the black button to extinguish pilot and wait for audible click to indicate safety has reset. Any help appreciated. Thx

I had one of these heaters (along time ago) and it was a very gnarly thing to get the pilot light lit right from day one. My advice would be to take it to a repairer if you think it is worth it. I eventually gave up on it and bought another heater.

However, I left it behind in the last house when I moved to Brisbane from Sydney!

Is this an 'on demand' hot water heater?

If so, try turning on a hot water tap.
They usually won't light the main burner unless there is water flow.

If it isn't an 'on demand' hot water heater, ignore, I don't know what the problem might be.

    Default Vulcan Quasar

its a "Wall Furnace" heater..its not the pilot light thats the problem just the fact that the Burner won't ignite when turning up. This is actually the second one I have owned the first one did same thing and I managed to track down a cheap one to replace the whole unit. However someone once told me there was another place to reset the Safety ..somewhere up the top but I can't seem to locate it.

OK, I'll have another stab in the dark.... I have worked on a couple of industrial burners & they won't open the main fuel valve if there is any sort of problem, it senses things like fans, low fire, & if the pilot is alight.
As long as the fan is running, the throttle is at minimum & the pilot is burning, then it will open the main fuel valve.

You say you can hear a click so maybe the main fuel valve solenoid is activating but the valve is stuck or, as you say, there is another safety valve somewhere that has to be reset.

Although I understand process control for burners, I'm not a qualified gas fitter, so I can't tell you any more than if you can't find another reset, you might have to find a gas man.

Only other thing to try is to shut it down & power it off. (Assuming it has power of some sort to control it)
    Cliff.

sounds like the thermocouple lead is broken, need a gas man to replace it. Then again it might be the mag-valve, just as easy to fix.
If you dont play it, it's not an instrument!
