backpain!
Good to meet you at the Adelaide WWWS Doorstop!
Sorry to hear about the chair episode,. swear it wasn't me.
Coupla things I've found useful at night are, to place an old pillow between your knees if you sleep on your side or; under back of your knees if you sleep on back. This will help to reduce lower back pain during the night making for a much better day!
Also not to waste an opportunity for the odd plug, it is very important to have a good bed! There are two critical elements to you having a good nights sleep. 1) comfort, 2) support.
If you have one without the other you will not suceed.
Whilst it should be firm it must also be comfortable.
Every day I have people in my bedding store in need of a new bed and they all seem to have a "bad back" and all seem to think they must get a hard bed.
If you purchase a reputable brand it should contain decent springs, however the one thing to remember is that you WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
And as a rule of thumb, if your mattress (and base) is older than 10-12 years, then it really has had the best part of it's life & you should be considering your next bed!
Good luck with it,
Regards Sandman.

Stinky, don't you mean "old and old of back woodworkers"?
