Sticky mess
Compliments of the season to you all!
I love Cadbury’s Milk Tray chocolates and was delighted to receive a large box from under the Christmas tree. Unfortunately, to keep them from melting, I stowed them immediately in the esky along with the ‘coldies’ to enjoy later. After lunch I raided the esky for a well earned stubby and noticed that the melted ice at the bottom had turned a disgusting brown colour! Much to my horror the box of chocolates had become a soggy sticky mess. Seems that the plastic trays in the box were made of ‘Plantic’ (a non-toxic vegetable product I had not previously encountered) which was designed to dissolve in water for eco-friendly reasons. I gingerly extracted the chocs (undamaged) from the quagmire and enjoyed a few. Lesson – in future keep them away from water.
Not sure how long condensation would take to dissolve the trays after taking them from a fridge – but you have been warned.
NB. The chocolates were still delicious if a little discoloured!
