MyGov
I registered an account with MyGov over 12 months ago and I have yet to receive any government notices or information into the inbox from any of the linked services. What is your experience? From what I can see it is a complete shambles but they have simplified and strengthened the login procedure. Apparently every Australian has a MyGov account but they haven't told anyone and they expect everyone to be using it from the end of this year. Pigs fly also.

I've been using the MyGov since it first came out. I haven't had any problems. I actually find it ok to use. For a government web site anyway.
I find it useful for filling in forms and claims as they already have all your information registered and all the different departments are linked.
Having said all that, I really only use it to claim FTB at the end of the year. Those were the droids I was looking for.

I've been using it since it became compulsory for DVA & Centrelink
seems OK saves logging on to 3 or 4 different sites

I suppose my gripe is that I am supposed to receive all correspondence through the site and in all the time I have been registered I have received exactly zero from and department but plenty of envelopes through the mail. I have no need to use it for any other reason, no tax to pay, no CentreLink to worry about etc.

There may be a way to set your correspondence to come via email rather than snail mail. I get all messages straight to email. If you can't find where to do it on the site, give them a call - it shouldn't be a big deal. I reckon it's a pretty good system.

I definitely agree with Rod ! It makes dealing with DVA and other departments much simpler. Although, DVA seem to be in a transition state, as some of their correspondence comes via email (or via the my.gov.au for secure emails), but DVA still seems to have some departments sending out paper letters, regardless of the settings in my.gov.au and in the DVA web site.
I guess the Government will slowly move to electronic communications instead of snail mail ----- but, by then I guess I'll probably be too old to use a computer and I'll be asking them to send me snail mail.....

Which I did when I first set it up. I have just spoken to the help desk, no cigar there and I tried to get into CentreLink, system down as usual. The links show up as having been done and I have just looked at the Medicare site and it has no option to receive mail electronically as the help desk thought it might. I will go and put up the pool fence and get back to it later.

I received an email today that there was a letter for me from Centerlink, went to myGov and sure enough there it was.
I have only recently joined myGov as we travel a fair bit and it would be good to get the letters via email while we are away.
We always get two of each anyway, so when we come back we have the paer versions that were sent to my wife!

I reckon it should be a great thing if only I could persuade my version to work! The NSW guvment portal works with no problems for me, I had my car inspected, paid the third party and received an email to say my car was now registered. No wonder Oz Post is going broke, as apart from the inspection it was all done on the internet. My son does the rego inspection so I don't even have to worry about that.

You retired from Ozpost at the right time Chris
It will probably be taken over by Deutsche Post or Japan Post in the next couple of years.
The current CEO is the only one making any money out of it at present.

I forced the issue with everyone I deal with. I don't use a physical mailbox anymore, stamped mail is rejected by the post office as they can't deliver it.

Until the older generations leave this earth I think AP are safe as the political backlash would be fairly universal throughout the electorate and no government wants to deal with that. I don't know how far it has gone but Startrack and AP are being welded together whether they like it or not. I also try and use electronic mail for everything as it leaves a trail of proof in case of a dispute. The world has certainly changed in the span of our lifetime, it is almost breathtaking the changes we have seen.
