Building a new deck on a high set home
Hello all,
After much thought we have decided to build a new 6 metre by 6 metre timber deck off the back of our high set home. I started by getting some quotes to get an idea of cost if we were to get a licensed builder to do the job. The quotes that came back did not shock me as I have an understanding of the process and how business operate. However they where higher than what we want to spend.
As I have friends and relatives spaning across all trades, (I am a coach and motor body builder by trade) I have decided to become an owner builder and tackle this job myself.
I guess the first thing I would like to do is the have this deck designed and drawn up so I can start getting a materials list together and start costing up this job and have a set of drawings that can be submitted to a private certifier.
Can anybody recommend a designer/draftsmen and private certifier? I live on the northside of Brisbane.
Would love to hear your comments
Thanks
