Hello,

in this home I recently purchased which was built in 1960, it has an old air conditioner installed on the external & internal wall that are quite common in Australian homes. It actually still works, well the heater does as I have been using it on those cold days a week or two ago. it's a little noisy though.

I plan to renovate the whole house, painting inside and outside.

What I would like to know is are these things energy hungry, do they chew up the energy bill?

If I take it out, how difficult will it be to cover up the hole in the wall? If I do take it out then I think it would be best to take it out before I start painting etc.

This house does have fans on top of the lights so I hope these will keep the home cool in the summer but I will not know until next year.
