    Question Masonite

WE ARE RESTORING AN OLD KITCHEN CUPBOARD THAT HAS MASONITE/JARRAH DOORS CIRCA 1940/50s DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE BEST WAY TO FINISH OFF THE MASONITE.
IT IS NORDEX MASONITE FROM SWEDEN.
THE CUPBOARD HAS A SENTIMENTAL ATTACHMENT SO I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT LOOK AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE,WE HAVE REMOVED THE 4 LAYERS OF PAINT/UNDERCOAT.THANKS

Serg, we repainted our old '50s kitchen a while back, used undercoat then enamel.

Great results, except where the undercoat dried too quickly & the brush marks didn't settle out. I reckon the go would be some floetrol in the undercoat so it dries a bit slower & flattens out better.

Proper enamel (oil based) is the best for the high gloss dead smooth finish that looks best in the old kitchens I reckon, we have tried the dulux aquanamel (water based) but the gloss level & hardness of finish are not up to the oil based IMO.

    Cheers....................Sean
