Hi there,

We are looking to fix or replace our existing sliding glass door. We want to retain a simple aluminium glass sliding door. Currently in place is a working sliding door, but the bottom of the sliding door has somehow been damaged (previous owner). The damage doesn't affect the door sliding. It is more so asthetics that's were trying to address.

I have a couple of questions:

1. We have got quotes to replace the entire sliding door. The installer advised the entire wooden frame + the sliding door would need to be replaced. Is it possible to just remove the entire existing aluminium frame and RETAIN the existing wooden frame to reduce potential collateral damage? (kitchen bench and tiles) (this would also potentially save money too)

2. The other option is, we live with the existing sliding door, but somehow try and either replace or repair the damaged metal strip (which appears to be more of a rail guard, to help keep the glass door on the track - would this be possible? (It looks like this is actually a separate piece of metal from the frame. Only issue might be trying to retain the same colour metal or have something that looks vastly different to the rest of the aluminium door)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!
