jape
G'day, grumpy old git spends as much time dreaming as doing but from time to time can be found in the shed hunting for long lost tools under stacks of 'one day it'll be useful'.
When I do make things it is always for practical purposes like: 'I'm not spending good whiskey money on that crap', 'that'll fall to pieces in a week, here, let me show ya', 'look what i got for ten bucks at the garage sale, oops it broke better fix it', and so on.
I enjoy archery and sometimes make things like arrows for that. I built my house twenty years ago and they passed it fit for habitation before I got all the internal walls clad, archs and trims on, doors hung, kitchen cabinets built - you guessed it .... but I did paint a wall ten years ago, well most of it.

G'Day Jape,
Welcome to the WWFs.
the crew here are just as friendly, if not friendlier, than that other forum you frequent.

Hi Jape...and welcome!
I had a home like you describe when we lived in Kentucky, and it was the best, warmest, most livable place ever....didn't need nor want a lot of fancy interior decoration!
Truth be known, spent more time in the shop than in the house!!!Cheers,
Ed

Thanks Ed, there is something special about the house you build yourself for yourself even if it is very imperfect! The ceiling boards still have the pink chalk marks my first daughter scribbled all over them when she 3 and was helping me 'mark out' and that she made me promise to leave there for ever. She's grown up and long gone but the excuse still stands! I like raw wood anyway ...
