I have this purely decorative brick wall situated above my garage door. It's one of those ones that you read about in the paper that collapsed and killed someone. Thankfully this hasn't happened yet.

So I'm going to knock it down, as it's ever-so-slowly leaning further and further over, and I'm sure it's gonna go pretty soon. My plan is to gently sledgehammer from the top down on the corner closest to the deck (since pushing will cause some of it to actually hit the deck), then once enough of it is down I'll just push the rest, videotaping it of course.

My plan is to replace the part that comes down with a new timber structure of similar stepped shape, cover it in blue-board, and then render both blueboard and brick together and give it one colour, probably a similar red colour.

It servers no structural purpose whatsoever - other than currently having a bit of flashing attached to it which diverts water onto the tin roof. I'll just do something similar with the blueboard.

My question is, given I intend to pay someone to render it, is there anything I should know beforehand about attaching the blueboard to the timber frame I'm going to put up there? As in, should I used a particular sealant on the joins? Do I use external join pieces like the metal ones used on plaster?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
