Log Cabin Dovetail Templates
I was asked about a log cabin dovetail calculator (where the wall corners join).
Not a lot of log cabins around here, so I have no idea.
Looking around the net and found this handy site, with a step through of how to make a template for a half dovetail joint on 8" x 6" timbers.
Peeling Logs: Timber Frame—1/2 Dovetail Layout
Using the same half dovetail idea, I've started on a calculator to see where it might end up. ** Warning. This is just a test page **
TEST PAGE ONLY - DO NOT USE RESULTS
If you visit with Chrome, IE10 or the latest Firefox, there's slider controls to change the angle and overlap entries and animate the diagrams to see what combinations might work.
Anyone know anything about these types of dovetails?
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.
