Putting an opening in gable end wall
hi guys im new to the forum,
i own a 1930's built workers cottage, basically they've enclosed the deck that was on the front of the house to create a sunroom. i want to open up the wall in between the sun room and lounge room which is a gable end wall. i've tried to get tradies over to do the work but no-one seems interested in a small job like this. so i have decided to have a go at this myself, just basically want to know how to attack it. i know i need to install an lvl beam, just not sure what size and wether i need to install new posts to support the new lvl? i was just going to put the lvl up 2m high and re-connect the end wall studs onto the lvl and enlcose it as a bulk head (its a single sided wall)
if anyone can shed some light on this it would be much appreciated, im a tradie just not a chippie! haha
