    Default window awning building question

i want to make a window awning to span a 3 sash window area

    my question is ,
what would be the best way to attach the wood to span the awnings?

I think screwing them to the flat top would look funny when i screw iron on top but to screw them inside the awnings would be difficult because of the oval profile of the edges.

should i cut the oval profile flat somehow?

Checking them into the side would give better joint strength and prevent twisting...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Bugsy

I made something similar a while ago with brackets I bought at Bunnings and colourbond mini corry I bought at Robot Trading (in Melb, which I ordered cut to length).

I used 3 hardwood battens screwed on the flat to the top of the angled part of the bracket. I finished off the sides with an "external corner" I put together with WRC which I screwed through the corry and into the awning bracket.

Something I learned for next time...After I had attached the brackets to the wall and then attached the battens to the brackets I hit a problem attaching the corry. I couldn't hold the sheets in place or get enough control over the drill to drive the screws into the top of the corrugations and through to the battens without scratching the colourbond all whilst standing on a ladder. I took the battens off, attached the corry to the battens then installed it as a panel.
