    Default Motor upgrade for BP-250

I have a Hafco BP-250 which is an ideal size for my small workshop and the light work I want to perform (boxes, toys, etc). However the thing is absolutely gutless with the so-called "powerful 1/2 HP motor". It struggles to cut even 15mm soft pine in a straight line and just stops when trying to cut a curve.
Should I look at upgrading the motor to something more powerful and if so, what size, where from and what sort of price am I looking at?

15 mm pine, that does not sound right, how's the blade?

Indeed, sounds dodgy. Is the drive belt slipping?

Many thanks hiroller - as the photo shows the belt was more than slipping!
Interesting that none of the articles I researched on tuning bandsaws mention the belt.

The belt, ordered online yesterday, arrived this morning so brilliant service from Hare & Forbes. I have just installed it and now the saw is cutting like a hot knife through butter.
    Cheers

I recently bought a BP-250 as well and first time cutting it, the blade kept stopping after a few cms of cutting .
But now thanks to this thread i can try the belt upgrade.

Can i ask what was the belt that you ordered from H&F
