Hei Guys,
How hard is it to reverse the direction of a single phase motor such as the one on the MC900 wood lathe - I know on three phase motors you can just swap one of the 4 wires.

About the one weak point of this lathe is the fact that the back of the motor is positioned to collect all the crap that comes off the lathe.

I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to swap the motor round but you'd need to reverse the operating direction of it.

Smidsy,

You need to change the polarity of the rotor or the stator, not both!
This can be easier said than done.
If it is a squirrel cage induction motor without brushes or slip rings you should just be able to swap the active and neutral.

You need to reverse the start winding connections only, usually easy on most motors.
