Relocating doorway
Heya guys,
Gotta relocate a doorway now, so I've got some more storage area while doing other things to other parts of the house.
Attached are some photos, my question is can this bracing be safely removed and then reinstalled on the other side of the doorway.
Existing downstairs wall with brace to be removed
The two blockers or joist noggins top right are directly below a wall upstairs that supports a ceiling beam.
Ideally I would want to remove the whole wall build new and install a cavity slider.
I could temporarily prob the floor to be on the safe side but the brace is what concerns me, also that wall is stopping the bearer from slipping off the loaded wall left of pic.
The house was originally built on posts just as an elevated house with laundry attached underneath and has been bricked in. Could this brace be for wind loading? If so can it be removed now that's it's been bricked in?
