    Default new member intro

Hello all,I joined this forum today, not realising it was full of foriegn colonials!!,(joke),I have recently started micro turning as I love fishing using trad tackle so wanted to make my own floats in the old way,got a proxxon mini lathe, but would love to make my own micro lathe,24vDC,speed control, and 240vac in 24vdc out transformer,it's almost impossible to get reliable info as to what motor is compatable with which speed control, and would it run using household 240vac 24vdc transformer, especially as I am totally ignorant of anything electrical, the lathe I want to make would be about 160mm x75mm bed standing about 80mm high.Anyone over there know anything that will help a 'superior' pom?.Appreciate it. flatpick

Welcome. I'd love to see some of your floats. Do you use cork? Balsa? And what about the quill? Genuine feathers or bamboo skewers? Maybe start a thread in the turning section...

There's a couple of 'superior poms' already, and even (As crowie mentioned) a few of us who were lured over here by the promise of actually getting a summer from time to time (but I mistakenly moved to Victoria )

They welcomed me, I'm sure they'll do the same even for a 'yellow belly'

Enjoy the forum and the knowledge you'll gain here
