Candy Store Fatline Pen
Hey all,
Have been turning wooden pens for ages, and after a string of a few failed attempts at acrylic pens (for various reasons) I finally got one out in one piece.
Cant even remember if this is one of those acrylics or some other type now but anyway I called it Candy Store style because of all the nice bright colors.
Its a slimline kit but turned to more like a fatline pen
Finished with EEE Ultrashine.
Lessons Learnt:
1. Get a wet grinder to sharpen turning tools, and a turning tool honing wheel add-on to hone inside and outside bevels of gouges for turning these things! Makes a BIG difference to end quality.
2. Wet sand instead of dry sanding.
3. Go slow when drilling for the tubes. These things melt easily! Drill 1/2", retract bit, stop and let bit cool, start again when cool, drill another 1/2" etc.
