    Default Diesel gensets- anyone bought one lately?? Recommendations?

    I'm looking to upgrade my backup genet (we lose power regularly at this time of year) from my 4kva pull start petrol genset to a silenced diesel one with a key and remote start.

    There seem to be quite a few around the 6 to 11 kva (max output) size on ebay for around $1200.00 (Blue Diamond, Gen Power, Able etc), but being a it of an electrical numpty I'm a little wary and somewhat confused by the choices.

    They're obviously all imports and they all appear capable of what I need, so has anyone here bought one of these recently and so perhaps able to provide any advice on what to look for avoid??

    I'd appreciate any advice

    only experience is with 60kVA 3 phase diesel gen generators.

    these tended to develop glazed cylinders unless the load was balanced across the phases and the generator was running under a reasonably constant load

    I bought one of the 7.5kva diesel inverter generators off ebay last year, cost was about 1300$ I think.
    Probably have used it for 20 hours or so, it runs my whole house minus the stove. I am happy with it so far, its a bit noisier than I would have hoped for, but we live in the bush so its really not an issue.

    I see it being sold under a few different brands, and even being sold by some bricks and mortar stores, so hopefully parts will be available when needed.

    I just quickly scanned ebay, was about to reply and the power went out yet again, was thinking I would need to hook up the generator again, but it came back on after about 30 seconds.

    There doesn't seem to be any diesel ones on ebay at the moment, but it is practically the same as this petrol one, albeit mine is diesel,

    I wanted an invertor generator so I could safely run my TV's and computers etc, that's why I went with the one I got.

    Yep, that looks the same as mine, I can't remember if it's the same seller.You wouldn't believe it but mine is getting another workout tonight, the power went out at about 5 o'clock this afternoon, not sure when we will get power back on.
