In a pickle with painting interior
Hi,
We have just started light sanding the entire interior of house in preparation for painting however have run into a problem with the existing paint in the hall and lounge.
The paint is an army green gloss paint, and I would say it is pretty old (the house is an old double brick single fronted victorian). When we sand with the belt sander it just bubbles up and flakes off in big chunks right back to plaster however hand sanding only causes the odd few flakes here and there. Does this mean the paint is stuffed and cannot be painted over or is it due to my over eagerness to use power tools?
I really don't want to have to scrape all the paint off as even though it is flaky and bubbles up it is quite brittle and won't just peel off in big strips.
