    Angry Rubbish!!

Was reading through Springwater's thread "Lipton".

I never cease to be amazed by the amount of garbage I see everywhere!

The roads, the beaches and some parts of the bush resemble a tip. Not happy Jan!!!

The north Pacific Gyre is an immense island of floating rubbish in the middle of the ocean for Pete's sake.
Even some of Australia's remotest islands are littered with rubbish, especially plastic, carried by the ocean
    currents.

Have we yet to wake up to the problems this causes for ocean life?? If not, I fear we are in deeper doo doo
    than I originally imagined!

found it interesting that when wandering through Chile the guides were very aware of litter and went out of their way to pick any they saw up

    and the scenery was brlliant

When I was hiking with my Canadian buddies in the Rockies they always carried plastic bags to put their own and other rubbish they would see on trails etc.
If we saw and collected rubbish on the way up they'd leave the bags for collection by the side of the trail for on the way down. More often than not it would already be collected by someone else going down.
Given the large numbers of hikers on some trails I though they were pretty clean.

Yes, agreed. Chile is a place I love. We were thinking of moving there at one stage. An earthquake put a stop to that!!

What I have seen of Argentina is also very clean.

Brazil is getting better but is still lagging, even further behind than we are!!!
