    Default Singer Sewing Machine Rebuild.

    Hi Everyone
I've just inherited my next project. A singer treadle sewing machine. Original.
Needs new veneer on the top of the table. The stuff on it looks like plywood that's been neglected and subjected to sun wind and rain, I suspect this is because it has been neglected and subjected to sun wind and rain.
I think it is English walnut veneer or oak veneer.
Where do I get some of this?
Has anyone else been there and done this ?
When I borrow a digital camera I'll post some pics.
    Cheers
    Jim

If its like my grandmother's machine, then its Oak veneer. If all the veneer is there, you might try salvaging it by streaming it off, then flattening & re-glueing and a very light sand.

Otherwise, I suspect you'll be doing a few Internet searches - I think Rockler sell oak veneer, not sure about Lee Valley.
