Default WOODWORKING QUIZ for 23 Sept 04

    Good Evening Friends,
When building walls with windows and doors, the headers will be at a certain height. How do we determine where to install the sills?

Default WOOD QUIZ ANSWER for 23 Sept 04

    Good Evening Friends,
Any good framer would know that the window and door openings would be installed in the rough opening size, and would need to check the window and door schedule in the drawings to find out each opening. Without a schedule you would need to contact the window company for this information.

The sills are set by measuring down from under the header to the sill height above the floor and to match the rough opening for that window.

It is common sense that a door would have the sill on the floor.

    Respectfully,
