TV help, please
I have a good TV set but for a recent fault.
After switching on I can wait as long as 10 minutes for a picture, which is usually fuzzy black and white - after another 10 minutes the picture is clear and in colour, as it should be.
Occasionally, during the black and white, fuzzy show, or even when the screen is still black, I can have good sound.
Does anyone have a suggestion of the problem , and even how to correct it?
I do not want to buy a new set till the introduction of digital is finalised - currently huge prices for no benefit IMO.

It's a job for the tv repair man. An easy one to fix, let it heat up and start working then use a can of zero freeze to find the component that is faulty. Either that or look up the chasis and fault in the book and replace the component. Definatly not a home fix unless your a tv tech.

Thanks Benny, I sort of expected you to reply . Unfortunately, the service bloke I call on is not always accurate. That's why I asked here - I can now "suggest".

We used to use a rubber mallet to coerce intermittent faults out into the open.

Had this problem myself with my old Sony. Great tv, but sort of doing a similar thing to yours. For pocket change I bought a new, cheap tv. Just waiting for LCD tv's to get to a more realistic price. I reckon mid next year they should have dropped a bit.
