That's ugly and the sort of thing I associate with the States ( echos of Deliverance).

Shocking case if what we hear is true (and it probably is). There are a lot of diamond shaped family trees in that area, reported as being near Yass.
Someone should teach the Daily Mail some geography, though. Yass is nowhere near the blue mountains, where the photos are from. It is also nowhere near Sydney, except by comparison to places even more distant.

That would make it closer to Canberra then

So, the geography is wrong, but the rest of the story is true?
Let's not forget this is a "story" in a tabloid in the UK, nothing of this has been reported in the Australian media, I wonder why.
Not only that, I wonder why this is on a Woodworking Forum

I'm following this on a parenting forum. Apparently there has been a bit about this on Australian sources.
I don't think much about the uk reporting style but the story itself is rather disturbing

Indeed, if the story has any truth in it it would be disturbing, so what are the Australian sources, links?
If this was a true story it would have been all over the Oz mainstream media, especially the Murdoch press.
Just because something is on the internet doesn't necessarily make it true, except for Wikipedia of course

This is meant to be an Australian source

I am a little skeptical as it has not been on the news. Not that I get to watch the news much. You would think it would be splashed up everywhere a bit like the 'house of horrors' from Poland or wherever it was

This is old news. Was reported on Canberra times a week or so ago.

The silence could be that the case is still on going and although this does not always silence the shock jocks they usually spill the beans when they have been silenced to protect the guilty, and not innocent children also they have been hauled over the coals, collectively and individually over recent cases.

Sadly if this case is as read there are times like this where you say 'why did the department not step in sooner'
On the other side of the coin there are cases where the department rushes in based on lies. Children are taken. The absolute stupidity where there own reports find it is lies. The department then continues with the lies.
I know a family this happened to. They fought. They won. That got their children back. It cost them half the value of their house. Today the department says. We would not have do e that today because the laws have changed. That only happened 3 years ago.

Ray Hadely made a feast of this storey on 2GB and found out direct from the appropriate govt dept that the children had been bought to attention many times but the 'parents' kept moving so it made it very hard to keep track of them

This is terrible
The case I mentioned in my precious post above even at the height of the lie would not even have scratched the surface of this original post
Report went in at about midnight and police and department were on door step at around 4am. The report was not even against the parents. It was not life threatening and it was not investigated. The children were just taken? An 18 month old & the other still on the breast.
Then the department falsified a report to west mead hospital so an 'expert' there reduced parent contact with the children to once a fortnight. 4 months through the courts and tens of thousands for the parents and the judge ordered immediate return of children to parents.
The parents costs were never met. The department needs to be held accountable. They could have and should have acted in one case and majorly over reacted in another

I am always a little suspicious about these cult claims, especially in cases like this.
Let me tell you, however, that during 40 years of teaching I ran across several
instances of incestuous offspring, either from rape or a father daughter relationship.
"Deliverance'' did no service to the truth of matters. Incest does not necessarily lead to
mental disability, physical disability, or any combination of the two. In fact Jenny Brocky
did a very interesting "Insight" program on this subject, but concentrating mainly on
cousin marriages.
I know of two cases where the child was the result the result of the father raping his daughter.
In both case the children were perfectly physically normal. One child had no intellectual
problems and the other was struggling at school. This, however, was more the result of home
circumstances than of parentage.
The worst part of this type of scenario is the morality of it, for want of a better word. The fact that
a parent, a brother or sister would abuse their position of responsibility and trust and use their
position as one of power is totally anathema to all right thinking people.
