Bubbles in Mirrortone
Howdy all,
I am just starting with sculpting WA timbers. I made a "whale tale" out of Jarrah burl, and sprayed with Mirrortone Nitrocelulossystuff, which came up beautifully. The only prob is that if you look closely you can see that it is full of hundreds of minute bubbles in the coating. I did it in several light coats, which resulted in overspray on the parts already done as it dries so quick, then gave it a good heavy coat - no overspray, just the bubbles. Why? I am familiar with auto spraying etc, and have never had this type of prob before. Plz hlp.... 10q. Fred.

Sounds like you might need to use some retarder. But your best be would be to give the techheads at mirotone a call. They are always helpful!

Thanks Shane, I spoke to a furniture maker today and he indicated the same, slow the process down with retarder, as well as thin it down a lot more to let the bubbles escape before drying. I will be doing another job tomorrow. I will know soon. Thanks again.
