Default Working with what I call 'drift' wood.

    G'day.

I am interested to know if anyone has worked with drift wood (not sure if I even got the name correct). We have a cabin near a lake and there are some beautiful pieces of wood washed up on the shore that I would love to convert to functional pieces. However like most people with good ideas but no 'know how' I am not sure where to start. Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thumbs up

G'day Crampsbay and welcome to the cubby.

I usually see driftwood used in sculture or as sculptural foms. That's not to say it can't be used in other ways. It may be large enough to cut up for a small box, a picture frame or a dra front.

Then again it may be cut into blanks for turning.

A lot will also depend on the species of timber and the grain.

Basically - whatever takes your fancy.

    Welcome to the forum.

I have seen people used drift wood for projects. I can not see why you would not be able to use it for your projects.

    Default Drift wood

Thank you for replying I am now going to surf the net and find artistic ( althought not an artistic bone in my body) examples of drift wood art pieces.
