TS rise and fall:no rise and little fall

The rise and fall on my table saw is stuck tight. Before I set about dismantling everything in sight does anybody have any suggestions for a solution? I have the top of the saw off and I cannot see any obvious damage. The saw is one of the small table saws sold by Gary Pye.

Lubricate the rise and fall mechanism, they usually get chocked up with dust and gunk. Use a dry lube that won't attract dust itself.

Got access to a compressor?

If yes, give it good blowing out - as Specialist has said - it will be "gunk" in the mechanism. If you can get to it easily - wash the gears with a brush and solvent which removes all of the old lubricant and gunk - if awkward to get at then use one of those degreaser pressure packs. It needs to be totally clean before you use your dry lube.

Avoid grease like the plague if you don't want his happening frequently.

Both responses are correct. Mine became super tight and harder and harder to wind.

Cleaned it completely and blew it out with a compressor, then squirted Dry Lube on it. It's from the bike shop and made for bike chains. I believe it's PFTE, won't dry out and is dust and gunk collecting free. Nothing sticks to it.

Squirt it on the bits that needed it and a few winds up and down and it is done.

Since I've done this it's been trouble free. I believe I did it last at Christmas. I use my table saw frequently during the day, so it seems to work well and for quite some time.

When my TS jammed like this I found that one of the split pins holding the worm gear had started to come out. I only found it after cleaning and blowing didn't free it up.
