    Default Old Crows Ash

Picked this up yesterday...Old Crow's Ash that was growing in suburban Kilcoy.
Around 900mm girth at d.b.h...an absolute cracker of a log,way too good to be feed into a chipper...MM

Within a few weeks Scott,,,limb free part of the bole will be milled into quarter sawn boards and possibly mill 8x3 and 8x4 out of the rest for special turning pieces...MM

    Default The smaller Branches.

    Hi Mapleman,
    Although I'm to far away, what happened to the 30 - 50 -75 - & 100mm. Branches.
Sounds like they went through the Chipper.
Certainly a cracker of a log. Didn't spot a crack anywhere.
    Regards,
    issatree.

Hi Kryn...definately gave me 'warm and fuzzies' to see the figuring ...makes the whole process worthwhile when it comes off the saw looking so good ...reminds me why i mill and why i enjoy my craft so much...makes me proud to be a miller!...MM

WOW and WOW and WOW!!!! Imagine veneers of that on a violin!!!

MM, did you read my post "Ä Mystery"?.. The timber reminded me a little of Crows Ash but it is a wattle.

Haven't had a chance to photograph yet but you might know something of the local acacias.
