Best way to hinge cellar door.
Situation is we have cellar under kitchen floor with a hatch for access. Just replaced the timber floor boards with 19mm compressed sheet and tiled with porcelain tiles.
Still have to work out the best way to hinge the hatch. The hatch door will be around 30 -32 mm thick with the compressed sheet and tiles fitted.
The plan is to use a marine gas lift to take the effort out of opening and closing the hatch which is about 600mm x 1200mm roughly in size.
Given the floor is polished porcelain tiles I was trying to make the hatch door as non obvious as possible by avoiding hinges protruding above the tile face.
Has anyone had experience with hatch doors this thick? Would a pivot hinge be the answer?
Any advice appreciated.
