Water damaged door repair
Hello all,
our washing machine decided that it would overflow one day and as a result, the laundry got flooded. The water seeped out into the hallway, soaking the carpet and it also damaged two door frames (are they called architraves? ).
Both sides of the laundry door and one side of the adjacent bedroom door were damaged. I've attached a couple of pics of the inside and outside of the laundry door.

The question now is, can these frames be repaired, or do they have to be replaced?
I was wondering if I could chisel the bulging parts to make them level with the rest of the frame, then sand and paint? Or would the whole strip of timber have to be replaced?
Thanks in advance,
Steve.
P.S. In case you're wondering, yes I have repaired the washing machine, and the next addition will be a floor drain in the laundry.
