Default Tip size for spraying lacquer?

Was looking through a couple of old threads and mention was made of 2mm nozzles required for Lacquer.

I have been soraying Stylwood with a 1.4 tip with what I thought was good results. The gun is a DeVilbiss conversion HVLP.

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the need to use 2mm nozzles for Lacquer?

I use a 1.4 tip for lacquer too, only use larger for poly or enamel.

I prefer the 2mm but if you're happy with your finish why change.

most of the time you don't get an option, you just have to use what came in the gun.
2mm is what come in most of the guns as standard so its probably a typical recomendation.
I supose 1.4 would give you finer atomisation & wouldn't handle heavier viscosities.
Most people I know thinn laquer quite a lot any way.
I supose If you are using mirotone laquer & thinning the "recommended" 10% you would most certainly need at least a 2mm nossle.
Most people I know start at about 20% thinner.
    cheers
Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
    Most powertools have sharp teeth.
    People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
