Hyco bandsaw motor
I have a Hyco 12" band saw with a dead motor that need replacing (smoke escaping), all I know about it is a 1400rpm/240v motor no plate on it.
Does anybody know what to replace it with, I'm using it to cut turning blanks 6" thick using a 1/2' 3tpi wood pecker blade in it
Cheers

Do you know why the smoke got out?
If it was due to overwork, then it may be worth speccing a larger motor provided you can mount it and the pulley fits or can be made to fit.
Provided that the existing motor is a remotely standard size, then you will be able to cross reference it by shaft size and mounting foot dimensions. I would imagine you would be looking at a motor in the 1 to 1.5 HP range.
