you can reuse the bag providing there is no holes in it. they do wear out over time from the shavings racing around inside the bag. I always just empty the shavings out of the dusty bags into standard garbage bags. i probly should find a garbage bag that fits the rim of my dusty, and then i can use the standard bag with a garbage bag inside it.

Absolutely! And gaff tape is your friend for hole patching. Bought a packet of ten 18 months ago and still haven't used more than 4, and only one of them has been thrown out.
I have a local Community garden that takes clean dust (no MDF, treated pine, paint), and for polluted dust I just transfer it to the big orange garden bags which are much cheaper.

hmmm and FenceFurniture has used four in 18 months - whoah thats extravagant
i have used the one that came with the machine here for 7 years
it is getting to the stage that it does need replacing - a few too many patches
maybe i will bag it with a HD garbage bag
i refuse to pay carbatec $34 for a plastic bagray c
dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

Hare and Forbes sells then in 10 packs.
Good thick plastic too. I replace mine fortnightly, at least, using magnets to hold it in place, then clear packing tape around the top for fine dust, then the strap.
Just over 4/5's full allows me to fold the top down and secure with tape. I leave it on the verge for passing traffic... "TAKE ME! FREE!" on the side in big texta ... lasts 30 minutes....
....heavy beastie when full!

Mostly MDF and pine most weeks
Its bloody heavy stuff. Glad its in the bag, not my lungs.
I was thinking of BobL and his fatherly chats just before, I had the bandsaw on and an incense stick*. No matter where I put that stick it sucked the smoke in for a full metre radius.
It was terribly impressive to watch. Shows the fine dust is being sucked in like a black hole.
* Why did I have an incense stick on?, I hear you ask.... a HORROR OF ALL HORRORS. We are fostering 6 kittens for the RSPCA. They were in my workshop and had VIGOROUSLY used the deep chip pile under the lathe as a poo-station... unknown to me. Sucked it up in the morning cleanup and..... the impeller vaporised cat poo into atoms!!!!! Then spewed it back into the workshop at 1200 CFM!!!!!! THE STINK WAS UNHOLY!!!!!!!

If your DC is inside a shed I would not recommend anything other than the thicker (100 micron) plastic as regular green bags are too fragile.

Have a look on the woodworking warehouse site that'd where I buy mine from.
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs .

Ah, kittens in the workshop, the poor little things thought you were going out of your way to cater for them. The Missus is still laughing at that one but thinks that the incense smoke would be worse than the kitten poop odour .
On the matter of bags, we used to buy boxes of bags for the dusty on the CNC from RollPac in Braeside. 50 very thick bags for $50 inc GST, generally capable of handling the sharp edged melamine swarf coming of the CNC as well as the dust, and a wide range of sizes and thickness' available. But may not be option if you want one or two and recycle them. The ones we were running on the CNC came out at about 70Kg full, one a day minimum, into the skip. Had to be done that way because the rubbish contractors were getting pinged for cruising Boundary Road with a 100m trail of chipboard/MDF dust trailing them. 350-400Kg of loose dust in a 2m3 bin and then the truck was a bit much.I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

HHHMMMMMMM... let me poetic.
That impeller is doing 9000 rpm with a 2hp motor straining to suck in all that air. When something hits it at 150km/h, it is instantly vaporized like an aerosol. That then gets gasified and filtered through the 1-micron pleated filter - continuously ejected into my closed workshop at 1200 CFM !!!
You are assailed by PURE micronised, filtered STINK. Its a goddam terrorist weapon!
Its impossible to get rid of!!!!!! Every time its turned on some new particles are generated!!!!! OHHHH GOOODDDDDD!!!!!!!!!
