    Default What's this ceiling called??

Seem's odd to make something that you dont know the name of. I call it my Bulkhead Cove ceiling with recessed lights. But technically its not a cove.
Made it by raising the center ceiling 150mm, instead of dropping the outside, as with traditional bulkheads.

Over here it's called a tray ceiling and considered quite fashionable.

Also spelled "trey" around here - God knows why. "Coffered" also comes to mind, but I think that refers to multiple insets between real or fake beams. In either case, generally found in the more expensive homes.
