Default Carbatec Drum Sander - I Found a Better Manual

For those of us with the open end drum sanders such as the generic 16-32 or wds-400 drum sanders from Carbatec, Timbecon etc, there is a much better manual available from Jet for their equivalent sander. See below.

It is vastly superior in terms of providing guidance for:

    1. Fitting new sanding strips
    2. Aligning the drum
    3. How and why to Fine tune the pressure for the guide rollers

I must admit I would have looked at buying the Jet in the first instance but was put off after the last time I went to PTMS in Perth. They are the only JET dealer here and carry very minimal stock levels.

Thanks for the link TP1. I have the timbecon version. I found the tool to install the end of the paper interesting. Do you have one of these, didn't get one with my machine.

    Hi TP1,

Thaks for that. Don't have a drum sander but you never know when the urge might overcome one.

    Cheers

No I didn't Squirrel. I think Jet add a few more goodies into their products. However, I am much more confident about what to do now after reading the JET manual. I was originally worried after reading some earlier threads about these sanders, hence my search for a better manual.

    Hi Pops,

I have been sitting on the fence about this for some time. But I recently had a bad experience with a glue up for a coffee table. It hasn't happened before but this time there was a measurable bow in the centre. I was a bit worried about how perfect I could get the entire surface area after planing/sanding it down, and this was the motivation I needed to take the plunge.

Once I aligned it properly and figured out the do's and don'ts with some test timber, it worked like a charm and my table top is now dead flat!

I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it
